Re: What door to choose in the Cache?
With the exception of the serpent cache and to a lesser degree the archmage cache, contemplate saving your gold keys for the Vault. The items there are far better quality.

Re: Beta 2.1.10
Fight frogs in Keelbreach Bog at a ladder. Climb up the ladder, fight the frog until it's directly before you, then go down. The frog will now try to leap or attack but can't due to different height; you'll get a short blink of the frog at the bottom of the ladder trying this. Now move away from th...

Re: What door to choose in the Cache?
I went for Snakecharmer, Archmage, and Thief. Found one gold key somewhere in the level above, presumably for that forcefield with the wand that gives +5 energy and +1 Wil. I just skipped the forcefield and used that key on the Archmage cache since the wizard upgrades were far superior. The gold key...

Re: Changes from Grimrock 1 you DIDN'T like
Weapons with spells in them generally work one of three ways in RPGs: 1. The weapon can cast a specific spell but it does not hold energy, it channels it. Casting the spell uses the caster's own energy. Use of the item is unlimited, but it requires something like magic item use (in this game it woul...

Heavy Vs. Light Weapons
Since the weapon skills are so different this time around, I'm wondering what the availability is for high powered heavy versus light weapons. I recall the most powerful weapon in LOG1 (Dismantler) was a claymore, so something like that should translate as a heavy STR based weapon this time around. ...

Re: Beta 2.1.10
Would be great if you could release the beta-patch for the GOG-version, too! Doesn't matter. The DRM free version and the Steam version use the same save games. Not sure about GOG but the Humble Bundle version came with both the DRM free and a Steam key. You can hop into Steam, set it to beta and m...

Re: Starting Party Composition
Ok starting over again. For the front row I'm sticking with a Knight, but I'm changing him from a Lizardman to an Insectoid. I think the +10 Protection (not 100% sure on that one) and 10% cooldown reduction racial traits will be nice, along with the 50% injury resist. The stats are good too, just ne...

Re: Any reason to choose wizard over battlemage?
True, but are you really going to make a caster without any ranks in Concentration anyway? Concentration is required to cast a ton of the spells, not to mention the utility. A lot of people seem to be opting for an Alchemist as their caster. Herb duplication is very powerful but firearms are lacklus...

Re: Any reason to choose wizard over battlemage?
Any character can cast spells if you take spells (granted only the Wizard and Battle Mage can cast spells without an orb/staff). The classes basically come down to the abilities. The question is whether to take a Battle Mage or a Knight for a front line fighter, not whether to take a Battle Mage or ...

I got the Wizardry 8 vibe too. Best in the series. Loved that game.Hipster wrote:- When game started I looked around and thought I launched Wizardy 8 (which is kind of positive vibe in a sense)
