Hall of Champions

Post by pelican »

First off let me say I'm enjoying LoG, however one thing I miss from Dungeon Master is the way you built your team at the start, none of this carefully crafting your ideal characters but instead the game designers gave you a selection of pre-made characters that you had to choose from. It came as quite a let down to see LoG didn't incorporate this especially given the story, you could have had a first level as the prison warden patrolling the cells eyeing up who' he'd next send to Grimrock. It would have fitted perfectly with the context and also given another big nod to Dungeon Master. Similarly to the option to switch the auto map off you could have had a "pick characters" or "create characters" option to keep everyone happy. A missed opportunity if you ask me.
Any modders or level builders fancy throwing this together some how when the tools are available let me know! :)

That kind of feature actually put me off playing DM. I like creating my own characters instead of the game supplying them for me.

As this is only a team of 4 with just 1 programmer, they had to limit the scope somewhat. They've done a damn good job really. :)

The main problem with this would be having to create more 3D models and a new locale.

It would be cool to see a mod attempt to do this however.

If you decide to replay DM some time, you can choose to reincarnate your characters, this allows you more freedom with their skills etc (as well as naming them).

Really? I thought we could only rename them.

Well what I mean is it, blanks them to 0, allowing you to build them up from scratch however you want.

I toggled it, noticed I could change the name, then toggled it back. Didn't feel like renaming characters and didn't bother to look at their stats.

Sorry I mean it blanks the skills, you are right the attributes don't change.
