This amuses and makes me slightly angry at the same time
So, I take on one of those undead legionaries and I get their spear. Pretty cool early on.
Later, there's a bunch of those things coming after me and I get another spear. My brain goes "Oh! This is a good idea!" and throws the spear at them.
Mork seemed to think it was a good idea to chuck it sideways at them.
I think it would be a good idea to get thrown spears classified as a missile weapon (And be thrown point first).
Anyone else?

Thrown things benefiting from the skill would be interesting. I threw my sword at a troll by accident, never reloaded so quick in my life.

they are more like pikes than javelins, and since they are long they already work from the back row, so there is little need to throw them.

You're thinking of a throwing spear, which is a different weapon. I would agree if the skeletons used them in this manner, but these appear to be polearms and not missile weapons.

Well, yes. These are good points. But in a pinch, if there's something on the ground and all of your characters are currently in their attack cooldowns, you pick up a pike or a spear or anything to throw, aren't you going to throw it so the most dangerous bit hits them?
I'm just saying, it's not like I'm basing my whole attack strategy around throwing junk around, It just seems logical that you're going to throw point first.
A sword is for swinging, but if I'm going to throw it, I'm throwing it point-first.

I suppose technically they're pikes not spears, but I suppose getting either one of them thrown back at you would hurt

No, then you would be playing StonekeepGamegeneral wrote: I'm just saying, it's not like I'm basing my whole attack strategy around throwing junk around

Anyway, it is quite hard to actually throw something that is not meant to be thrown. And while yes, it would make sense to throw the spear pointy end first, it would still be a horribly inefficient weapon. Off balance and too heavy, you would not be able to throw it far, or with any degree of accuracy.

Given how hard it would be to throw some things, you could get a lot more force throwing them certain ways that might not seem to make as much sense.
The pike comes to mind. Yes, one end is pointier, but if its weighted in a way that you could throw it significantly harder sideways than point-ways, it could be worth doing that instead.
That said, the first time I encountered a snail I ended up throwing all my torches at it because I was panicking too much and didnt think to right click to attack properly
