LoG on Linux using Intel HD3000

Post by 2Ben »

Yeah it sounds crazy indeed, and it mostly is, but just for the sake of not giving up completely, I want to say that it does actually work, with one little trick.

Using Crossover, LoG installs perfectly, but then throws a D3D error, I guess because the driver for Intel card doesn't support many things. But all is not lost ! Download Swiftshader from Transgaming, replace ~/.cxoffice/Grimrock/drive_c/windows/system32/d3d9.dll with the d3d9.dll from swiftshader, and launch LoG: it WORKS !

EDIT: I forgot, you need to go to Wine Configuration panel and force d3d9 to Native rather than built-in.

Well, if you're like me and have a relatively low-powered i5 laptop, it works but it's too slow to be playable. If you're happy enough to have a beefier machine, you might get better results.

Oh well, was worth a try :)
