Backstab and Unarmed

Can you get backstab bonus even without a dagger, as long as it's a melee weapon? I'm thinking of trying something like unarmed assassination, but would be fairly pointless if you can't backstab with unarmed. Can't test since my rogue doesn't have backstab at the moment, maybe anyone could do a quick check? Thanks.
