Thrown Weapons?
Thrown Weapons?
I was just wondering if thrown weapons are worth going for. The skill gains are slightly better than bow, but are there any good thrown weapons that aren't bombs? So far the best non-exploding throwing weapons i've found are shurikens. They seem on par with the bow I have, but the +damage on arrows makes those much better.

Re: Thrown Weapons?
There are throwing axes (15 damage, 9 speed). Crossbow is 20 damage + 2 for the bolt and 9 speed. Throwing skill tree gives +5 strength whereas missile weapons gives useless dexterity. If you have a mage you can enchant your arrows/bolts for +5 elemental damage. Bolts and arrows are more common than throwing axes as they come pretty late. I think it is pretty clear that missile weapons are better for a dedicated back-row shooter. Only saving grace is that throwing weapons use only one hand. You can use your mages second hand for throwing weapons so he can do some damage in combat (and get experience) when you are too busy to mess with runes. I would maybe consider using throwing weapon expert if I had two rogues in the back row. One using missile weapons and other throwing weapons. Even then it might be more powerful with two missile weapon users. One using crossbows and other using bows.
Re: Thrown Weapons?
My own opinion is not worth going for, or at least not very far. I did put 8 skill points there early on, but everything else in missiles or dodge .. mostly missiles. I've 2nd-guessed the 8 pts I put there, as it's been a long time since I've thrown anything. For missiles, I mostly use the sling. I always manage to get my rocks back, where arrows and bolt seem to disappear mostly. I do keep the bow, crossbow, and all my bombs, but mostly just for "special occassions".hailplays wrote:I was just wondering if thrown weapons are worth going for.
