I must have overlooked something for i can't see how to have them lift... the same applies to the doors where i took the geared key...

I think you're talking about that large area of the map blocked off? There should be a piece of paper just on the other side of one of the grates that should give you a hint.

There is an alternative way to level 8 from level 7. Find the map in level 8 and compare it to level 7 map. That should get you started.

It was a map of an area of the previous level, a different one form the slime map. It shows a button on a wall that opens a door nearby that you need to get to quickly.

So what exactly is it you can't reach?

You'll gain access to that by adventuring through 8 (and you'll gain access to 8 through a hidden area on 7).

The one stepping on all the pressure plates? I got stuck there for a while, there were two switches hidden on the walls of the room.
