Graphical things that bug me

Post by Trollmann »

Hello there! My first post here :)

So basically, I'm on my second play through (didn't finish the first one, wanted to switch to Hard and make my own chars) and I'm constantly getting distracted by this:

You notice the one sharp-shaped plane sticking out of the dirt? I'm always mistaking it for a knife or some kind of a stabbing weapon, making me poke around the same corners again and again :D
This next one is a bit more complicated:

One of the floor tiles are a bit higher off the ground than the others and the "sparks" are drawn under it when you kill an enemy. I think this is a bit harder to fix due the way the engine / spark effect is coded.
This doesn't actually bug me that much, but I just wanted to share my thoughts :)

Well, the game IS meant to be a tribute to, and a continuation, of the proud classic Dungeon Crawler traditions from the days before Blizzard and company so if something in the game bugs you you can almost be certain that the game is outright trying to spite you because... that's just how these games like to roll, by being pricks.
Screw you guys, I'm famous!

Well I have no problems with the game, it feels fantastic and I worked out the controls in just about 30 minutes :) I've not played dungeon crawler styled games since... late '90s or so. Closest to this genre that I've recently played has to be Wolf3d & Blakestone :D
The sole purpose of my post was to just bring these things to attention, because these things could be considered as minor bugs, although they really aren't bugs, just things that could be overlooked pretty easily.
That "plane sticking out of dirt" could be easily fixed via patch, I was just wondering if people have similar problems as I do, searching those corners again and again, and seemingly people do :D

About hidden wall switches, I could ease things up a bit for you guys if you'd like, but I don't want to spoil up anything :P
SpoilerShow
There's only 3 variation of hidden switches per. tile set, so they're pretty easy to memorize.
If you want to know more:

If there's a bench, chain, vines or any other detail in certain face of wall, there can't be hidden switch AFAIK. I could be wrong, but I'm already at level 9, so I'm pretty sure about this :)

I've overlooked quite a few items on the ground because they blend in well with the flooring.

Who else managed to find the sling?
I consider it all a part of the devious nature of the dungeon and its desire to deceive.

You really are nitpicking..I saw nothing distracting, or that looked like at item in those pictures.

Whoa, I certainly didn't know about that :P I've got to try to find it if I can, since I'm @ level 6 already... for some reason I've collected all the rocks that crossed my path :D
