Pixel Shader 2.0
Pixel Shader 2.0
Hello!
I've just pre-ordered the game today. Unfortunately I downloaded hardware test version and it requires Pixel Shader 3.0 at least. My graphics supports only PS 2.0. Is there any chance to release a patch which would allow to play game on Pixel Shader 2.0. I have Mobility Radeon 9800 with 256MB RAM , 2GB RAM memory, and Pentium 4 3,4 GHz Extreme Edition version in Dell 9100 laptop.
Best regards,
Cezi

Re: Pixel Shader 2.0
that would be a toughly, I know pixel shader 3 is the norm now, it does add a few more effects then what 2 can provide, I say the chance of getting the game to work on 2 would be slim at best, not really sure
Re: Pixel Shader 2.0
Yea, as Matthew said, this is fairly improbable.

Re: Pixel Shader 2.0
my advice is either get a system that can run the game or get a refund, as I don't think anything can be done unless the engine gets a complete rewrite
Re: Pixel Shader 2.0
You got a bargain, keep LoG handy until you upgrade!

Well!
I'm not going to apply for a refund. It's my (small) contribution to the game even if I don't play it. Anyway I think there must be a way to run it on low or medium details. Unfortunately I can't afford to buy a new laptop right now.

Yep, unfortunately LoG requires a pixel shader 3.0 capable graphics card. There are been some requests for a "notebook mode" which would downgrade graphics (remove normal mapping and dynamic shadows and such) and would enable the game to be run on less powerful computers. This would require quite big changes to the engine as others have pointed out. It's possible that we'll release a patch after launch but we'll have to think what is the best course of action first: e.g. should we do the map editor first, continue working on iOS/Mac version, or add the notebook mode. Plenty to do for a single programmer so we have to choose our battles wisely!

For the love of Lord Perel, PLEASE do a map editor ASAP. That alone will keep this game going for ages.

Re: Pixel Shader 2.0
I say do a map editor and do a laptop patch later,
Re: Pixel Shader 2.0
Well I found a way to launch hardware test version
I downloaded Swift Shader 3.0, added 32bit version dll into LoG directory and the test version launched. Anyway there is a bad Swift Shader logo on the screen in the left bottom corner. and the cooling fan in my laptop is very loud:
Anyway it's a half way solution.
Best regards,
Cezi
P.S. But I would like to humbly ask for "notebook version" first:))
