Rogue Reach

Post by DJK »

Am I mising something ? My rogue has reach (12 skill points) for AGES already, yet I never managed to attack from the back row except with a spear :( (daggers etc give me "can't reach")

My rogue had no issues with his daggers once he got the skill point. Sounds like a bug. What weapon are you trying to use?

If you've definitely put 12 skill points into his Assassination tree, I'd say yeah, bug.

e: And you have the Dagger Skill to use that particular dagger.

Think I know what causes the "bug" but need some more testing, hold on to your hats :)

Ok, I figured it out, this was a "cheat" party just to have some fun and appearently the game has to "trigger' new abilities when you learn it. If for example (as I did) start out with Assassin skill of 25 (started a party with all 25) then it never rolled over from 11 to 12 and it never flagged your character as having learned the skill.

I tested it with rolling back my stat to 11, then manually adding one point to 12 and presto, reach unlocked. I'm guessing based on this weapon combo moves need to be "unlocked" as well.. so beware cheaters ;)

Sooo in short, while this is not a bug in the traditional sense, maybe the game should add a check to see what skills you have on load ? .. some mods down the road migh stumble in this..

See my debug.lua (posted link in the modding forum), I have a bump_skill() function that will Do What You Want.
