And how long would that list be for my friend....? I dont quite get your point, since 95% of games made without a choice for gender, default to a prototypical male. Yes, it sucks for her. She misses out on a lot of great games, that I wish she could play. That much is obvious. Its not something she chooses, though, and why it is dissociating & emotionally triggering for her certainly is none of your business....

Why its a point of contention/protest for those actively choose to not play such games, in order to make a point, about sexism in general or about gaming being some sort of sophomoric boy's club, etc... well, that is definitely a conversation that does not belong here (and that I will not be getting involved in).

I'd just like to know if I can play as a female (insert race) (insert class), thanks.

Alaric, if you REALLY do not comprehend the issue, Google it. You will find PLENTY of material and conversation. Some of it logical and coherent. Most of it irrational, hyperbolic, and/or plain old malicious.

Yes, and I'll be the first to admit that I have very little restraint when it comes to such things. If someone engages me, I tend to debate compulsively- unless its particularly obvious trolling. Does not mean that I actually want to head towards the type of conversation you describe below.

To clarify, I'm not really up for such a discussion if it were to head in the negative direction you describe; and I simply don't feel like this is the right place for even a more positive & reasonable one on the subject. But if, in explaining my question, someone is going to pick apart my intentions, and asking "why I care so much," I just feel genuinely compelled to explain. Can't really help it unless I know Im being trolled; its just in my nature. Technically, its actually in the nature of my "disability," to be entirely honest. I have no agenda, but I do like to see inclusiveness & equality actively promoted in the games that I play & support.

Sorry if I've wasted anyone's time, I would honestly just like some information as to how the party customization options work... Basically, I'd like to know if I can have an all-female crew of varied classes, and/or even races. That would be nice for my own playthrough, but it would also certainly make a friend (or 2 or 3) much more likely to be as interested in this game as I am.

Yes, according to what the developers had said earlier, you can select female portraits for your characters. So far we've seen the human female portrait, but it is probably reasonably safe to assume that other races would have them as well. Unless the insectoids and/or the lizardmen do not have sexes or have more than two, but I doubt that would be the case. Also, I would imagine that it may be difficult to tell a male insectoid from a female one just by looking at their head, but I'm sure there is a degree of antropomorphication in the art, which would help with that.
