The world is a better place
The world is a better place
In a world of cookie cutter mmos a beacon of light shines in the darkness. Indie developers now carry the torch. Somewhere around 1990 my father bought a Commodore Amiga for the family. Dungeon Master was the first game I ever knew. To this day I still ask people if they ever played it. Very few have but once in a while I find someone worth sharing the memories with. I'll never forget sitting at the computer with my brother and sister, trying to solve the puzzles late at night when we should have been sleeping. I am so glad people like you guys realize what gaming is about. Seriously, how many millions are spent on some of these most recent excuses for games? They spend all that money just to make another game that I lose interest in within a few weeks. Those games are so diluted that I believe a monkey could be trained to play them. It's quite sad to me that the general public is not smart enough to read a map or a compass direction. These huge developers have to take all the mystery and exploration out to cater to these sorry excuses for gamers. It's up to you guys to bring the mystery, challenge and imagination back to gaming. This looks great! LOG is the game I have been waiting on for over 20 years now. The anticipation of creating my first party is killing me. Thanks guys and keep up the good work. The future of gaming depends on it.
Re: The world is a better place
Its about time Indie gaming came to the lime light IMHO.
I would say for me atleast I have been looking for a game like this for atleast 10 years - I even coded one up in OpenGL for my Uni project a fair few years ago... I even had a play and mapped out the first dungeon level of Dungeon Master.... and then Eye of the Beholder...
I dont know why these games have such a mystical hold on me.... perhaps its just the right mix of action and stratagey ... but I feel it could be the amount of involvement the game surrounds you in. Over the last few months my brother and I have been playing Bards Tale again on the Amiga and some nights not finishing before 5am!!! I have to say I dont remember blue dragons being that damn hard to kill!!!
But thats the point I think, every step is a new challenge... I have my entertainment set up as such

Thats an old pic, now, as a few more systems have been installed since then
As you can see I love retrolcious systems, but I also have an X360 and PS3.... sadly the X360 hardly gets turned on and the PS3 while I have a few titles for it they are all to easy to play to be worth bothering (except bionic commando on hard).... I find myself searching for more... more of a game that is.... games today are made for 12 year olds to complete.... I want something a litle more challenging, involving... I think LOG is going to give that to me in a quantity a similar as though I stumbled upon the treasure room of 99 Zombies!!
Sadly most of the games that cost 100's of millions of dollars to make today are worth absolutlely nothing come 8 or 9 months down the line.... and all you have to do to see this is look at the approach to football games... a massive £65 of cash launch title ... to be sold of for less than a pint beer 9 months later...
Bring back Sensi Soccer - cheaper to make... much more fun to play AND requires a little skill to play!!!!
So yes... with the release of this game from Independent developers, especially with the stand alone nature of it, it does restore my faith in games developers as a whole... and for me.... yest the world is a little bit more of a better place for it!
