There will be time for that later. For now, let's give the lore more time to develop so the community is, well, brought down to Earth a little bit when they come to write their own storylines. I don't want to see the community make the lore in this game. They'll run a muck. Eventually someone will write about a secret Orc base located on the third moon of Tetharion that must be reached via spaceship crafted by gnomes.

Re: The world of Grimrock : "The Northern Realms"
If posting a subject concerning an idea of a new MOD must simply be :
"I want to create a dungeon .. no story planed ... just a dungeon"...
What is the interest ??? NULL ...
If we can't provide ideas the developers of Grimrock may develop or allow us to develop ... there is no interest in this forum ...
don't blame *creativity* !
We never give enough space for creativity !!!
Kindest Regards,

The only ones who should be making canon is Almost Human. To take the lore and make a dungeon from it should be enough for this community. But random people adding in a piece of story that makes their story work is selfish. They'll literally start thinking everything they're doing is actually what's happening in the Northern Realms.
Maybe someday someone will introduce a dungeon whose plot revolves around the war between(checking map....) The Malanian Empire and Kingdom of Theraen. Then, in his own little world, these two countries are bitter enemies, each vowing to destroy eachother. But in another person's dungeon, it's explained that these two countries are banded together to fight (Checking map....) the barbarian hordes from the Fjord. See? I don't even know if they have barbarians up there. Everyone is gonna run around acting all pompous because in their head THEIR storyline is the only storyline. New people coming to the game would have no feel for the game because everyone else already made the circumstances that applies only to their lore.
I noticed you want to use the forest of Malan Yera as a home for elves. What if someone else makes that forest an enchanted playground for forest trolls? Who is right?

It's not about not giving enough space for creativity, it's about allowing Almost Human the time to build their world.
If you were to say, release "The world of Grimrock : The Northern Realms", it could be seen by some as being something in some sort of official capacity. Which is actually one of the many reasons companies send C&Ds to modders. What if The Northern Realms wasn't as robust as the original game? What if it was filled with glitches, bad art, etc. Someone could see it as if Almost Human dropped the ball on their first release after the original game. What if after someone releases a mod in the world of Grimrock, Almost Human then releases an official expansion that contradicts things in the mod? It could confuse people, or the mod not being too good could cause people not to buy the official expansion.
It's probably best just for the time being to stick to original ideas, unless the express permission is passed along from Almost Human to any respective modders that are planning on working within the mythos of Grimrock.

Oh, they do. Most of them are really great real estate agents.Miles-McStyles wrote:See? I don't even know if they have barbarians up there.
Re: The world of Grimrock : "The Northern Realms"
@Miles-McStyles :
What I do is only "providing IDEAS" not telling "it's what the realm live".
You make the confusion between ideas and realisation ...
1. Don't use parameters like friend/enemy territories
2. Don't make "story lines" of the realms
it's a so generic idea that it theorically *cannot* being wrong with what the Grimrock developers can want for their realm.
I never said "I have the right on the forest of Malan Yera" ... I only say "why not ... doing this?" ... it's only an idea !
Malan Yera is a "singing name" ... I founded it to be pleasant for Elves ... It was an idea ... only an idea ... a proposal ...
I think people must really take a dictionary and read the meaning of words before blaming someone else ...

It's only AN IDEA !! Never forget this ... Brainstorm ... proposal ... what you want saying it's only hypothetic!I noticed you want to use the forest of Malan Yera as a home for elves. What if someone else makes that forest an enchanted playground for forest trolls? Who is right?

If all you're going to do is provide ideas, it's probably best to just hold them back.
There are enough ideas for games, including this one. It's not ideas that are lacking, but the people with the skills to make them into games. Spewing out more and more ideas isn't productive.

Re: The world of Grimrock : "The Northern Realms"
Hi,
You're right when it's a person without the necessary skills to develop the idea.
But in my case, I am technically enough skilled to make it alive if the editor allow what I have in mind
