Compass - does it work fine?

Does the compass work fine? I mean when i stand towards north i look on the map there is arrow towards north and i look on compass the arrow also points to north. But when i turn right on the map the arrow points to right (i guess east) but on compass the red arrow points to left (i guess west). Is it right or wrong? I think its wrong.
