What length of time can we expect our first playthrough of the game to be?

About 10+ hours depending on how dungeon crawler veteran you are. But to find all the secrets and hidden stuff prepare to spend long time in the dungeons.

Of course most of us will explore all the content you guys have put in this game, so more than 10h is a given! More like 40 hours, with multiple playthroughs included...

If you're worried about playtime, pick the hardest difficulty level on the get-go. That should give you more playtime =)

I don't know how I rank in dungeon crawling veteranliness, but my first playthrough (at easy difficulty) took about 15 hours. Including some backtracking, when I figured out some of the puzzles after the fact.. And I did not manage to find everything there's to find.

Further replayability thing would be to build different kinds of teams to see, for example, how you'd manage the challenge with 4 mages..

Yeah, hard really means hard in our case. For example, certain bulky creature that I won't name here can pretty much kill any character with a single blow with hard difficulty setting

Actually I would recommend most players to try normal difficulty first because you can't change the difficulty setting after starting a game (this is by design).

what is normal and what is hard?
i.e compared to Dungeon Master or Chaos strikes back, back the old days?
Someone said, that on hard the game has no auto-map. is this correct?
He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster

The automap isn't dependent on the difficulty. IIRC it's on a separate optional "Hardcore mode" you can enable if you wish.

The difficulty settings only scales monster difficulty (automap is a separate option). With hard difficulty setting monsters are quite deadly, I'd say deadlier than in DM.

Both sound excellent.

Does the game increase the XP value on slain enemies, or does it just increase the difficulty of them?
