How about a respawn mod for mobs?

Post by Sagagemini »

That would make the game more fun i believe. Like every time you move to a level below, the upper level respawns all its mobs (unless it was a mob that popped under certain conditions and it would cause a game crash).

I have played through 6 times now. The game in general is balanced for a end level of 14 or 15 and there are a select number of respawn locations.
Hopefully with MODs and additional content that will not be the case.

You can also use the console to spawn enemies:

Honestly, I have always preferred that when an area is cleared, it stays that way unless there is a specific reason for a respawn (and only a few of those in the game).

If a party clears out the inhabitants (in this case inside an isolated mountain dungeon), it defies any sense that the area will repopulate in a few days. I much prefer being able to return to an area for in depth examination of it without much interruption from wandering monsters that (usually) shouldn't be there anymore IMO.

There is one thing that annoyed me about some dungeon games, which is where there were puzzle areas, or sections where it was necessary to search every wall for some tiny switch, and such places were accompanied by constant respawns. In almost any other area, I wouldn't mind some new creatures popping up, particularly if the type were random, but I hope this will not be the case in puzzle areas of mods or new dungeons.

Cheers

Actually, I like it where just a few enclosed areas have respawning mobs, and other than that, not.

Combat gets repetitive fast, even without the sidestepping. I'd rather be able to clear out the monsters and then walk around at my own leisure than constantly having to turn around and face those monsters.

I loved it! So much XP and food! It was difficult though. :)
