i5 2500/HD2000 graphics?

Post by neil »

Hello,
My machine is Windows 7 64bit with 8Gb RAM and intel i5 2500 cpu. I'm just using the built in intel HD2000 graphics which briefly support dx10.1 and shader 4.1. I appreciate the HD2000 is the bottleneck and I'd be better off buying a dedicated card, but will it be sufficient to play the game?

The specs say:
CPU: Dual Core 2GHz Intel or 2.8GHz AMD
Memory: 2GB
Graphics: ATI Radeon X1600 or NVIDIA GeForce 7600 or better (512MB graphics memory or more. Shader Model 3.0 needs to be supported). Minimum supported resolutions 1280×720 and 1024×768.
DirectX: 9.0c

thanks.

Well you have the shader support needed and according to this you have enough graphics RAM.

The HD Graphics 2000 has no dedicated memory but shares the fast Level 3 Cache with the CPU cores and also part of the main memory.
With 8GB to share, you'd think it'd run reasonably fine. Can't say for certain though.

you can set the shared memory size in bios, which I think I've set at either 256 or 512.

Would be nice if there was a demo version of the game....

Well 512mb is what you need minimum, so should be good, you may have to play on lower settings though.

There is a tech demo you can try,

It's no guarantee but if you can run that, you should be alright.

Hello,
I managed to get about 35fps on 1440x900 on medium. There wasn't much happening other than a static enemy and corridor. So all I can do is assume this will be fairly close to what I should expect in the game?

Not 100% to be honest, not really that techy. Someone out there may know. Still since it runs you should be alright. :)

Well I think you should be capable of playing this game, but maybe in last level you will have to set settings around minimum (there are lot of reflections on walls, so it demands more graphics power)
