help with spiders

I'm on level 3 and fighting lots of spiders. I've managed to beat them back until I get to this room where i have to hit a button, scoot around the corner and enter this room before the gate recloses. However, once I get in there the gate closes behind me and i can't use the close-the-door method of beating them. I either get trapped just beyond the gate and my party (two fighters, mage and rogue) die fairly quickly or I rush into the room and get surrounded by two spiders and die off. I've tried this fight probably a dozen times and can't even beat the first spider. I saw a walkthru that said there is a switch inside the room that will reopen the gate permanently. Is that true and can somebody tell me where it is? That might help me draw those damned spiders back to the portal room where they'll be easier to knock off. Thanks

IIRC, it's just around the corner to the right.

IIRC there is no need to rush into the room. Just stop on the first field behind the gate. On this field only one spider can attack and you can kill them one after the other.

Found the switch and it worked perfectly!! Hit the switch, ran back out and nailed those octoleg moms one by one! Thanks for the help!
