Achievement unlocked: Master of the Dungeon (no spoilers)

Hi!

Last night, my wife and me finally made it through the last corners of the dungeon! We bought the game on preorder and played it from day one completely through together! We named the characters after us and our cats We put 31 hours into it (whoever wrote "8-10 hours gameplay" was obviously wrong!) and got all treasures, all iron doors and most secrets (a few escaped us). We *did* however use a walkthrough now and then when we got too frustrated (a few times we noticed the language barrier, since english is not our first language). With some puzzles I had ideas and with some my wife had the right inspiration and we usually found a way and this teamplay was really great!

I just want to say: Thank you, Grimrock-Team! You provided us with lots of fun and made us think and fight monsters together - you wouldn't believe how piercing my wife can scream, when suddenly a giant spider comes around the corner! The more satisfaction it is, when it dies!

congratulations. And yeah, I can imagine the scream of your wife; even I shrieked a couple of times when all of a sudden a pet showed up ...

8-10 hours may be unthinkable as the time-span to play through it. But afaik one of the devs did it in about 14hours, which is, I guess, not really that hard to achieve. When I played the game my second time - in Toorum-mode -, I did it in a little less then 20 hours - with all treasures, secrets and whatnot there are available in the game ... My first play through went next to 30 hours though ...

Is 31 hours the time on your save? if so bare in mind that wont include the time spent dying/reloading etc, in which case you probably spent a lot longer on it!

Heh well the Dungeon Editor is just around the corner, so you'll be able to make your own dungeons soon should you wish to! If not there will be plenty made by others to try.

First time through, it is possible to finish the game without bothering particularly hard about secrets and goodies in under 10 hours easily. I got something like 63 secrets and 3 or 4 treasures first time through in 13 hours or so, but then I'm used to how these games work. No automap on the other hand is a completely different proposition.

When I read this post I had to laugh as it is almost a mirror image of me and my girlfriends play through of LoG (including the screams when a spider appeared from nowhere).

I was on keys controlling movement, map and then switching to mouse to help spend skill points. My gf was on the mouse doing the rest of the clicking

The game works remarkably well as a local coop game when played this way, just make sure you have a lot of patience as it can be frustrating in some situations like when you step forward into a fireball the other person has just cast.

We have played through the game twice now, once on normal and once on hard, knocking up over 40 hours of gameplay. We both love the game and look forward to the map editor and hopefully a sequel. Thank you to the developers for creating this game!

Just completed the game

No idea how long it actualy took as i have to confess to dying on more than one occasion

Have to say that without reference to Walkthroughs at various points i may well have given up.

Makes me wonder though how i ever finished Dungeon Master all those years ago, when i don't seem to recall having the same access (if any) to on-line help. Maybe it was just an easier game.

Anyway, fantastic work Almost Human..... You release any add-ons i'll gladly buy them.

Looking forward to the Editor (and learning some Lua scripting) and what is likely to be some cool work by the community.
