I know how to add a protection value to shields but it does not add to the overall protection value on the character sheet.

Yeah it doesn't add up the protection value on the character sheet. I've tried multiple ways and still a no go.

EDIT: sorry shields don't increase protection by design, because protection is internally handled per body part.

Which body part would you imagine the shield would cover?

chest, legs, and the hand holding it.

especially if it is a tower shield.

Just like in the movie 300 and they had large round shields.

Anything new on making shields offer protection.

They do, just not how you want them to.

You need to think of other ways for shields to offer protection.... there are enchanted items in game what if you give shields a low level defense buff or some other magic.
