Few model ideas for those who feel like modeling :)

Post by Blichew »

Hey,
I've been thinking for a while about new models but unfortunately I'm quite dumb when it comes to modeling (I'm more of a scripter). So I got this idea that I'll throw my ideas here, maybe someone will pick them up and share them with this wonderful community :)

1. Spike trap (animated) - self-explanatory, could have class = "pressureplate" - it can be remotely (de-)activated with activateAnim that raises the spikes from the ground.
2. Crushing trap (Indiana Jones style) that damages you from above (more-less like a cube), this could be created with a class = "Door", smaller cube that hangs under the celling while opened and looks like a pillar when "closed" - combine with damage tile and we'll have a new class of trap :)
3. Moving wall - I think this could even be done without modeling (maybe just a model with a wall with spikes or something like that). This could work like a spell that is spawned by a spawner and moves (and pushes/damages the party - via lua script).
4. Door that can be chopped with an axe (just a model of destroyed wooden door that will replace closed door when hit a few times)
5. Saloon-style door :D
6. New kind of switch: like a ship's steering wheel
7. ...

Capstans! :D

As for the spike traps, you could probably simply re-texture the ice_shards

I like all of these and would actually like to see them done as they could be very useful for my dungeon :)

"Simply" - you say... There's nothing simple for me in terms of graphics when it needs any work beyond paint (not even paint.NET) :|

  • -Thwomps! Thwomps with eyes.
-A grimrock style spin on chomp chomps or whatever the biting dog thing was in mario 64.
-Beholders of some sort... or even just a skull with flames on it
-torch with a flaming skull on it or decoration
-Legionary spear with a skull stabbed onto the end for decoration, flaming and not flaming.
    -Bob-Ombs!
-a lantern that you carry and when you put it down it stays lit and lights the area wherever you leave them.
re-texturing ice shards and making it a hostile spell effect from a dungeon is a great idea.

A few I thought of as well:

mimics & ornate looking treasure chests.
Pits that are completely floorless ( black floors ) and Bridges.
mummies & variations of undead *cough* DungeonMaster *cough*
Other Adventurers ( humans / minos / lizards / insects ) as enemies coming for your goods! ;p

I would like to make a destructible wall for the mine tileset I'm working on, but I'm wondering whether the game actually supports something like that (no editor access yet). Can you replace a wall with a destructible object like the barrels for example? And if so, can you hide sections beneath it on the map until the wall is destroyed so you don't immediately see there is a destructible wall when you look at the map?

maybe.. like using a secret dungeon wall and scripting it as destroyable blockage I'm thinking.

I just want a really nice table. One that lends it self well to the feel of the original wallsets.
