Original LoG maps

Post by starczek »

Where I can find original LoG maps to open them in LoG Editor? I think it's the best way to learn how to create levels, traps, lua scripts and other stuff used in original dungeon. I've download asset pack but there is no dungeon.lua file.

You can't. They were made before the editor and aren't compatible.

recreating all the original maps would be a MASSIVE undertaking and perhaps impossible with some of the puzzles. There are plenty of other examples to learn from, and a few of the original puzzles have been recreated to learn from as well (such as the pit sequence room)

Guys,

I understand that game originally has been developed without an editor and dungeon.lua might be incompatible in some parts with the editor. But you can't convict me that all of the puzzles couldn't be recreated in editor - there always is lua script functionality where "sky is the limit", right?

Nevertheless it's a pity because curiosity plays its role here too ;)

The problem is, in order to give you the level in the way you want it, it would have to be recreated in the editor. So it's really a project for a diehard fan.

Or just take the maps and make an "oldschool hardcore insanity mode" with different puzzles and enemies! : D

I think that the original dungeon could be almost completely be recreated. The end fight is the only bit I'm a little unsure of since that contains a lot of hardcoded things but otherwise a faithful recreation should be doable. Tedious, but doable nevertheless. :)
