you don't have to wokrk at a very specific resolution as .dds makes your pics for several resolution. I worked mine for my own screen...

I've seen some people mention playing Grimrock at insane resolutions, so I suppose using high res images would be good for them. I'm not sure how to deal with different aspect ratios though, I haven't looked into it much yet
