Has anyone had their critters surprise them?

So, I'm doing a run through of my dungeon, and I'm in a room below a bunch of pit traps. I'm fighting a herder and a big herder, when suddenly, here comes a third herder that I didn't place there! I realized that another monster must have triggered a trap just as the herder stepped onto it, and he fell down into the pit.

I was so proud of them.

Anyone else have unexpected moments of glee whilst creating?

{EDIT to add: And, on the complete opposite end of the spectrum...an hour and ten minutes into the test run, I locked myself into a treasure room by accident. I had changed the door and forgotten to reconnect the opening mech. ]

I made a trap where u step right into a wardens path, He charges and you step back to have a portcullis fall just in front of him and a pit drop him out of the way....Thing is, 2 days later, i play to the newly created level below, open a door and HELLO!!!smack. dead.
