Dream: Porting my Dwarf Fortress
Dream: Porting my Dwarf Fortress
I'd really really like to find a way to port my Dwarf fortress fort into Grimrock.... Don't suppose anyone has a better idea than graph paper?

Re: Dream: Porting my Dwarf Fortress
There would be limitations. Obviously both games don't contain the same objects or tiles or whatever, but I think the general blueprint would be straightforward. It's just a case of stripping the data down and reorganizing it. The easiest thing to do however would be to wait until the official dungeon editor is complete before messing with this.

Agreed, I think a DF limited to the length and width of a grim rock dungeon would provide a wealth of ideas for clutter and whatnot.

Now that the editor is out, is there any method simpler or rather less time consuming than manually recreating my dungeon?

Theoretically, you could make a tileset for DF that followed the style the dungeon files in Grimrock level editor use -- that'd only take care of the mapping, though, not item and object placement.HaunterV wrote:Now that the editor is out, is there any method simpler or rather less time consuming than manually recreating my dungeon?
