Strange room on Level 10

Just finished level 10 and was wondering what that strange 1 square room is (H11). It's near the start of the level, has a pressure plate and 2 things that release a poison cloud when you step on the pressure plate.

It's just a red herring, many people step right on it without being cautious to test with an item. Then you realize the walls are opening behind you!
