Re: [IDEA] Mod of the Month Compo
Lol, I was debating that. Seems a bit pointless to put a mod to the vote that will have at least 20 votes to start with! Heh
@SpiderFighter: Good idea re: cross posting to another board where plates might not even know about the custom dungeons (some undoubtedly won't know about it!).

Re: [IDEA] Mod of the Month Compo
Is a mod considered a whole dungeon, or can it be a custom weapon, or some smaller piece?
Re: [IDEA] Mod of the Month Compo
I think anyone can make a poll - you just click to make a NEWTOPIC* and scroll down a little and there is a tab called "Poll creation" where you set all the options
and I think for this case we would be focusing on completed dungeons

Finished Dungeons - complete mods to play
Re: [IDEA] Mod of the Month Compo
I think we should limit the voting to complete and tested dungeons.. to be a guide for the players who want some kind of review of mods.pferguso wrote:Is a mod considered a whole dungeon, or can it be a custom weapon, or some smaller piece?
For assets I think the endorsments on Nexus are a good pointer; plus they are used in strict categories: if I need a chair, the forest tileset - as cool and awesome as it is - is useless.

Well the X-Mas mod of the month will clearly be the Frankendungeon, so...JohnWordsworth wrote:Cool, seems like a positive response. Assuming the general consensus remains positive, I'll make December a draft run and then we can get an X-Mas mod of the month and start 2013 as we mean to go on!
Oh, wow...that WILL be a Christmas release, won't it??? I never thought about that. What a great month this is going to be for players!!Xanathar wrote:One Room ?X-Mas mod of the month(or is it non-competing ?)
Re: [IDEA] Mod of the Month Compo
Definitely +1. If you are worried that one highlight per month is not enough, you may consider doing it bi-weekly or even weekly (or doing gold, silver, bronze thing). But keep in mind that this requires some amount of extra work, so be prepared for that.
One other thing we may consider is asking players to review the dungeons they played. Ideally, a review could be a couple of paragraphs long description of highlights and bigger issues, but many folks are not interested in writing essays.
For people with graphophobia we may invent a simple score system, like 1(pathetic)-10(superb) score in completeness, puzzles, monsters, fun, difficulty. Or perhaps that is something we could consider later when the whole thing starts rolling for good. Let's not overdo it from the beginning.
As for other points, I think we should allow only complete dungeons, not new items, props or monsters. This is end user oriented, not modders oriented contest.
I'm fine with letting older mods compete as long as they want to. In certain months there hopefully will be outburst of excellent dungeons. We should not penalize their authors, just because others have vacation at the same time.

Re: [IDEA] Mod of the Month Compo
I worry about forcing people to meta-review mods. If we do go with a "reward" for voters (as has been discussed earlier), we may unintentionally get some less-than-honest people who arbitrarily throw numbers up without actually playing through the mod/dungeon. Some of these puppies are huge, and I expect mine to take anywhere from 15-20 hours of solid playtime to finish (longer for treasure/secret hunters), and the Frungeon could be more massive than anything we've yet seen, depending on how many maps are submitted.thomson wrote:For people with graphophobia we may invent a simple score system, like 1(pathetic)-10(superb) score in completeness, puzzles, monsters, fun, difficulty.

Ok, good point. We don't want to reinvent wheel here. Let's stick to simple voting + optional (appreciated, but not required) review then.SpiderFighter wrote:I worry about forcing people to meta-review mods.
