Extremely low fps

Post by GRP »

I have no idea how to fix this issue, I've tried updating my video drivers, setting everything to low in the graphics settings with the lowest possible screen resolution and nothing makes this game playable. Doors take ten seconds to open, thrown rocks move like they're floating in space, it took almost ten minutes to get past the story sequence because it went so slow. The game maxes out at 21 fps no matter what. My cfg file says the max fps is 120, so that's not an issue. I've searched these forums and google to no avail. The most I've found is turn off vsync or ssao, but I've tried every possible combination and the game never gets past 21 fps. Any suggestions?

System specs:
Windows 7 64bit
Core i5 3750k
Radeon 6850
16 gigs of ram

Though I don't know what you must have something else going on.
When I first started playing this game I was playing on a comp that only had G41 onboard graphics chip getting about 18fps and was able to play all except 1 puzzle.
The FORCE is with me!!!

yeah, if you were really getting 21fps there would be no problem, but you're describing something more like 2fps, despite what the fps meter might say. no idea what the problem could be though

2 ideas: first, check your catalyst settings, maybe they are "bad/forcing" (see http://www.overclock.net/t/1192050/very ... -in-skyrim) Try to disable auto- and force settings, set everything to "selected by application". Second idea, check if your GPU is not overheated (broken/blocked fan?) because than the cards starts to clock down. You can check the clock speed and temperatur with e.g. GPU-Z (http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/) cheers and keep us informed about progress

When I had my ALLINWONDER 9000 card, I couldn't get decent FPS until I downloaded their catalyst software.
