Changed some graphics settings and now it crashes.

Post by phlip45 »

So I got this game in the humble bundle today and I've been having a problem. The game originally ran but I could tell it would lag a bit so I headed to the options to change some graphics down as well as put it into windowed mode. I changed resolution, Vsync, and all settings to the lowest they could go. After I did that it blinked into windowed mode and then immediately crashed. I try to open it now and it crashes. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it crashes. I installed the directx thingy from the steam folder as well as the C++ redistributable thingy after uninstalling it first and it crashes.

I looked for the grimrock.cfg file so I could change the resolution as noted in other threads on the forum, only to find that the Steam version does not contain this file, apparently anywhere (did a full system search for the file and turned up nothing).

Running Windows Vista and downloaded the latest version off of steam, if that helps for anything.

Help? Please and thank you?

Sorry to hear that. Please delete the grimrock.cfg file in Documents/Almost Human/Legend of Grimrock folder. This will cause the game to autodetect all settings. Render Quality Low is probably causing the issue (it was added in the latest version).

Thanks. This worked. And confirming it is the render Low Quality option. Made the same settings changes except that and it runs fine now!
