That made me laugh, Skuggs.
Good show!

We're reaching new Kafkaian levels of conceptual meta-gaming design here. We've got a 2010's version of a 1990's game made in the 2010's.

Awesome nerd fun.

(By the way, I almost took up both this challenge and the christmas one to do "Toorum's Christmas Quest", Toorum with a santa hat collecting canes and evading deers and santagoromorgs, but didn't have enough time to devote to it. You'll have to imagine it.)

I'm getting a bug I think, it doesn't seem to correctly recognize which mouse button I'm clicking. When I have this code in the gui script nothing gets printed when I right-click or middle-click but ALL THREE lines get printed when I left click!

Code: Select all

     if g.mouseDown(2) then
        print("right mouse down")
     end
     if g.mouseDown(1) then
        print("middle mouse down")
     end
     if g.mouseDown(0) then
        print("left mouse down")
     end
Is this a confirmed bug? I need to run some code on right-click (setPosition to north to avoid party looking around while dreaming)

Gah, I think I had an overdose of glögg while coding that -- bug confirmed.

so maybe the problem can be the solution, more glögg and another coding session! :D

Final items to make gui and HUD fully in our control:
- fix mouse button detection
- way to remove party shadow boxes after party disabled
- way to remove or control-visibility-of the movement arrow keys HUD
- gui hook for automap screen
- perhaps hooks for key presses, not just detection, so we can return false and key press does nothing
- perhaps way to simulate a key press

These things all together would finally give us full control of being able to do in-game story elements, full screen "cinematics", cutscenes, showing certain clues, doing more immersive dialog with NPCs, etc

(or if there's not enough glögg for all that, then just do the DLC and Grimrock 2! 8-) )
