[Mac] Game doesn't start without admin-rights [SOLVED]

Post by Yosh07 »

Hi,

i have a little problem with the native Version of LOG for Mac:
it only starts, if i'm logged-in as Administrator - as a "standard"-user (without admin-rights) an error-message appears, that the program couldn't start because of a problem (i should check my computer-setting - which is OS-X 10.8.2 on an iMac 2,7 i5, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD and a Radeon HD6770M btw).
After hours of searching and testing i switched from standard-user to admin and voila: it starts without any error or problem.
Is there a work-a-round, which allows to play the game as a standard-user (without admin-rights)? Since i use my computer that way (not only for security-reasons), it would be great.

Thanks for any suggestion or hint - and sorry, if i'm overlooking something.
Regards,
Yosh07

PS: i never bought a game that fast as LOG: saw it on humble bundle, couldn't believe it, looked on grimrock.net, watched the trailer and bought it! :-)
A BIG thank-you to almost-human and all the people involved for LOG - brings back the good old days of Dungeon-Master and (later on) Lands of Lore etc. - with a lot of memories.

Hi again,

like mentioned, i found the reason for my problem myself: i use a (usually) great app for all the "finder-stuff" called Pathfinder. It seems, that Pathfinder defines the Access Rights and Privileges slightly different as the finder.
So i had my first success, after i changed the Access Rights to my user (in Pathfinder): the game started without any error :-).
I was still thinking, this is a necessary step for playing the game without Admin-Rights - so i tried to change the Access Rights in the normal Finder, which surprisingly weren't the same.
To make a long story short:
If i copy the game from the Disc-Image to my Application-Folder with Pathfinder, the game won't start (i have to change the Access Rights manually) - if i copy the game with Finder, there is no problem at all ...

Sorry to bother you with that - maybe this helps another pathfinder-user.
