3d Model Software
Re: 3d Model Software
I used to use milkshape 3d too, heh, thats what I used for my first half-life 1 project. Oh the memories. Then I put it to heavy use making a crapton of Homeworld 2 models. But once I learned how to UVmap in wings I never felt the need to go back. Now I just need to learn animations and I'll finally be at the point where I need to really start learning serious programming.

Yes, left mouse was very disturbing with blender. We are now all trained well for the left mouse button. Windows, Linux, all software.. all focused on left mouse.LordYig wrote:I read this a lot but every time I try it again I just wonder how did the devs get the idea that the left mouse click should be used this way in blender...germanny wrote:Learning blender may be a bit tougher, but it´s worth it, really!
How are you supposed to figure that selecting an object is done with the right click ?![]()
Did some commercial company has a patent on "selecting an item with the left mouse button" ?
Blender is in no doubt a great program but if I'll have to relearn all basic actions in order to use it efficiently.
I started modelling with Milkshape 3D and then used GMax a lot years ago and I am now used to this kind of GUI and short cuts.
I prefer to stick to old version of 3DSmax for now and I'll try learning sculpting programs like sculptris (which is free) or trying Mudbox and Z-brush.
This is the case why we all have probs with other input concepts.
As an early computer enthusiast who started computing 1987, i gone through so many usage concepts and programs - so it was not the greatest barrier at last.
For me - i´ve used and learned Dos, Amiga, Linux (since 3.x!), Win, Os/2, Mac - i like to use the keyboard for command input, this is in most cases faster as full mouse use^^
Blenders concept is ideal for a combined key/mouse input!
