..although that's probably better-looking than one might really get. I posterized the image to 6 levels to simulate the limited DAC before reducing colors to 16, but stillI fear the color space may be a bit too well-defined.. anyhoo.

This is more EGA-ish (No dithering at all. Just playing with RGB channel)
I have checked them and they display ok. Even after reloading the page (Shift-reload) on Firefox. What browser are you using? And are you using any proxy or something like that?

Well I'm using internet explorer, plain no proxies. However it sounds from Komag like IE isn't the problem.

El's images show up like all others in my Firefox; perhaps a hoster problem or some add-on blocking it.

Me thinks this might be the best possible EGA representation. I've seen a few static pictures of such quality when EGA was the best one could have. No idea how they did it back then but they definately used more then just 16 colors from the available 64.
Agreed. Using dithering gives the impression of more colours than they really are. In this case Bayer dithering is used, which is plain ugly but was used a lot because it's faster than error-diffusion (Floyd-steinberg for instance).
And now that we are talking about dithering, I remember Eye of the Beholder 2 used dithering when run on EGA mode. I also remember it was slightly slower running it on my AMSTRAD PC2086 on EGA mode than MCGA (back in the eighties). I think the dithering used was an in-house one, but I am not sure. I will check it this afternoon using DOSBox.
