I'm going for the cartography run, but I'm really scared about the "god, I now miss 3 tiles up and 2 tiles right.. jeeeeeesh !"

Do you think the map provided with the game is "large" enough to handle "wrong" start point, even more as lower levels become bigger and that start error is reported all along due to correspondance between stairs coordonates between levels ? (it is stated right ?)

It was reported that the first level starts "close to" the upper-left corner, so start with that.

The X,Y coordinates of each level also match, so you can safely start your level 2 map on the same tile you descended from.

I'm not sure exactly what your margin for error is on the "close to" top left, but hey, that's more information than you used to get to start these things. Hopefully they gave at least a couple rows of buffer each way.

Going to depend on how "wrong" your start points are. Like has been said earlier, the game stays tile for tile. So if the stairs you go down are on X35 Y10 then the next level will drop you on the exact same tile. I imagine on the first floor will have any room for error, short of just making a mistake. If you really really really want to be sure my advice is this... Start a game with auto map turned on. Run around the first few tiles of the first floor and note on your mapping paper those first couple tiles. Now restart with auto mapping off. You will know exactly where to start and won't have really spoiled anything.
