hahahAsk him why he's making an homage to a style of game that is completely obsolete. He should have done an Ultima Underworld style game if he actually wanted his gameplay to not be complete shit.
well, I can totally understand why someone wouldn't like the game
Well, one thing I like about our game is the puzzles. it's definitely somethingPitch it to me
most modern RPGs don't do very well
combat system is simpler but more tactical than, say, Skyrim
10 hours for a developer, and more for a newcomer :)Estimated length? One of the testers said 15+ hours on the easiest settings
what's the plot? well that's a pretty big question :DWhats the plot of the game/ how long is it?
but what I can say is that it starts out high on top of mount
Grimrock. four prisoners are tossed down a pit to their
(presumed) deaths but instead, they survive and discover a
network of ancient tunnels
-> adventure ensues!
yeah, it's purely underground dungeonsso you are always stuck in the dungeon? No shopping?
we had to limit our focus so that it wouldn't take forever to do :)not even cigarettes? What prison is it without cigarette dealers! so no shop? nice, that will make loot very important
since last JuneHow long have you been working on this game?
so 8 months or sojust you?
four guys
there's four races and three classesdoes the game have classes and races?
no :Dwill it have waifus? this is paramount
yeah, it won't be above 30Hmmm- about the price, could I safely say it's not above
30$? Or would you rather I leave this topic for a later date?
it is going to be fairly priced - by today's standards of course
well the primary reason for us not going that routeI tell ya Antii, I'm glad you guys didn't follow his "Alpha
funding" route, he really drove that thing into the ground
is that we don't have procedurally generated content that you
can restart over and over and not have the same adventure
twice :P
that's a good one :)How much of a dick can the game be?
well, there's a fair amount of traps in the game
and the puzzles can sometimes be kinda dickish, especially
towards the end of the game (although we left the nastiest
ones for optional stuff/secrets)
the expansion plans and such are all up in the air at the
moment. we'd like to update the game, yes, but what shape and
form will it be hasn't been thoroughly planned :P
we'd like to do a level editor/modding tools
editing levels for grid based dungeon game is so
straightforward that anyone can handle it
yesAs for the scenery, there'll be 3 different tilesets, yeah?
I agree :)I hope it will possible to import new set for future editor (if will be)
you can have a party with just 1 characterCan we go in solo?
You couldn't make a 100% copy of DM dungeons in grimrock butCan they pleeeeasee copy paste Dungeon Master level system
you could get pretty close
it's okaywell thanks for answering my questions
good luck with the game, I will make sure to check when its
released in a few months
And sorry for not posting them on the forum.
it worked out ok like this too
and I suppose the turnaround time was better :P
4chan QA session through IRC
4chan QA session through IRC
Some users on IRC went through the trouble of conducting game QA session on 4chan. The questions came from a 4chan thread, and Antti (one of the developers) answered in real time. I've edited the irc conversation into a more coherent QA format, but both questions and aswers are verbatim.

Re: 4chan QA session through IRC
Ah yes, I did that! I figured more publicity would be good.
Antti was cool and collected- despite me throwing these questions pretty suddenly. Top performance!
Thanks for the transcript, Sol!
