Anyway, you still need to level up your mage to maximum in all elements to cast all possible spells.
It is known that you cannot cast spell until you matched skill requirement.
I think mapping all possible spells will not be as simple as it was in dungeon master...
9!/(9-2)! = 72 combinations of two out of nine (non repeating) symbols,
9!/(9-3)! = 504 combinations of three out of nine (non repeating) symbols,
9!/(9-4)! = 3024 combinations of four out of nine (non repeating) symbols...
But as Mr. Aro here noted the order does not matter... oh well ... I was too slow.

I found only 36 combinations with 2 runes. I'm not finished with 3 runes yet, but i have 4 hours left ^^.
Should be a lot more.
And for the toher post: I have 4 mages, so every one can quickly level up in one school, then spellcraft, then Staffdefense and then evtl. another school. Think ice is very good at the beginning and you have to test, which mob is resistent to different types of magic.
Finding combinations out is easy, cause you can reload, when your energy is low.

Does you have a formula for combinations without the order of runes?

It is good start, no argument there but you need to do the math right:
72 / 2! = 36
504 / 3! = 84
3024 / 4! = 126
(that 2!, 3! in denominator is fixing the value to make it ordering independent)
for 3! it is 6: ABC = ACB = BAC = BCA = CAB = CBA
Watch the videos - regardless of rune ordering it casts the same spell

Hey Aro, would it matter to you, making me a word-doc?
When your informatics are as good as your maths.
But good to know, 246 combinations are really easy. DM had more.
OK, i think this is only to be done in handwork. I'll finish it - only for 1-3 rune-combinations - until 19.00. If anyone is interested, send me a pn and i mail it to you.
Today is the last day of my holiday ...
I'd say there are onyl 19 spells available, from what we can see on viewtopic.php?f=3&t=360
Spells are unlocked as we gain skills so in total there must be only these 19.
Also most spells must have the corresponding rune in the "incantation", fire, earth, ice and air. Only the two spellcraft spells might not have anyone of these runes, so the number of combinations to try is fairly low.
