Kiitos...Paljon kiitoksia

Post by PeBo »

Hope I got that right...been awhile since I last visited Suomi!

Long before the days of 3D GPUs....or even Windows(!), Atari software developer "Faster Than Light (FTL)" stole months of my life with what I consider to be two of the greatest computer games ever coded...

The first was the trade and exploration game "Sundog". While the graphics and size of the games within this genre have improved, the original awe of exploring star systems...then exploring planets within those star systems...then exploring cities withing those planets...and even exploring building within those cities, all the while trying to earn enough money to upgrade the ship you really didn't know how to operate - THAT gaming wonder will never be duplicated now that we've all become so jaded by next-gen-tech.

Their second ground breaking game was of course "Dungeon Master". So hooked was I on this game and it's sequel "Legend of Skullkeep" , that to this day, I keep an Atari ST emulator just so I can occasionally play though it (and other FTL titles) again.

Well imagine my delighted surprise when (while searching for new surround wallpaper) I found a screenshot for a game called "Legend of Grimrock" that looked hauntingly familiar! (took me all of 3 minutes to find your site and whip out my Visa!)

Thanks to you brilliant dudes and dudettes at Almost Human, I am once again finding myself with bloodshot eyes at 3 a.m.
PLUS, the postage stamp partial screen (the original didn't even fill the Atari ST 320x240 screen) has been replaced by full screen rendering at the highest single-screen resolution my system provides!

The creature animation is fluid, the lighting sensational and gameplay is an impressive homage to the Dungeon Master model.

You folks have proven once again, that you come from a nation of NEARLY the best hockey players and coders on the planet (sorry, patriotism forces me to rate my native Canada as #1 on those two fronts).

If it were not for Sundog and Oids, I could finally retire my ST emulator!

Once again KIITOS!!!!

So, what you're basically saying is that some Finns should look at Sundog and Oids and make your ST emulator obsolete? =)
