Level 4 entrance herders

Hi all,

How am I supposed to defeat the two adult herders in the first room? I've now wasted about 9 hours trying to get past them and I haven't managed to kill even one. My default party doesn't have any projectiles, only melee weapons remain. The crappy axes and scimitars do only minor damage and I am just not nimble enough with my fingers to escape before being hit with the poison gas. I even restarted the game in "easy" mode instead of normal if that would help. They seem to be slower in their movement but the poison is still as deadly and they seem to be as quick to retaliate.

I've watched youtube videos where people survive without being hit once. This is a fun game to a long-time single player RPG fan but this seems to be a show stopper. There is no way around them, nothing to be done above to gain more experience and skills. And with not-too-perfect hand-eye coordination this is just utterly frustrating.

Any ideas?

Why? There are missile and throwing weapons to find on levels 1 to 3.

In case you got mages in your party use either Fire, Ice or Lighting spells. Do NOT use Poison spells or attacks because big herders are immune to poison. Watching some videos should also have given you some ideas how to defeat them.

Most important: do NOT get cornered
Next: do NOT even think about tanking them

You can melee them but you need to learn how to sidestep or step back as soon as they move into your position because they launch their poison cloud attack as soon as their movement is complete.

Having same problem, they got a lot of HP it seems, i use 8 Fire Arrows and that first Ice shard spell, but i die any ways, i'll keep trying

ok ya i just ran for my life throwing everything i had and hoping to get 2 in a row for Ice Shards

The herders are the first enemies (in easy mode) that require square dancing (i.e, not just sitting in one place and bashing the enemies).
