How do I make Woodwall Model
Hi to the Modelers out there..
In my Drop Box is a model its crude but, I am experimenting with Grimrock Model Toolkit.. Its called (wood_walltest2)
What I want to do with this model is make it like Temple_secret_door, to place on the map. I have notice that the Temple Secret Door has the Texture on both sides of the Model where as mine is only on one side. I don't know how to put the wood texture on both sides like the Temple one and how to make it a Secret door. ATM it replaces the wall but if I put it on blank space like the secret door you can walk through it. I tried to make it a Blockage but the I cant put Levers or locks on it.. Any help would be appreciated, I have looked everywhere for tutorials and help..
This is the lua part:
defineObject{
name = "wood_floor_1",
class = "Decoration",
model = "mod_assets/models/wood/wood_floor2.fbx",
placement = "floor",
editorIcon = 100,
}
defineObject{
name = "wood_wall_1",
class = "Decoration",
model = "mod_assets/models/wood/wood_walltest2.fbx",
replacesWall = true,
placement = "wall",
editorIcon = 120,
}

Hi.
you can always walk through something that is class = "Decoration"
you need to make your secret door a class = "Door"
you also need to add using blender or your 3d software of chose the backside of the secret door.

Code: Select all
defineObject{

openSound = "wall_sliding",
closeSound = "wall_sliding",
lockSound = "wall_sliding_lock",
openVelocity = 0.5,
closeVelocity = -0.5,
secretDoor = true,
placement = "wall",

Re: How do I make Woodwall Model
Hi Skuggasveinn..
Thxs for reply. Yeah i wish i knew how to do that in blender 3D. I have have the program for a month now and it's so overwhelming i dont know how to apply a texture front or back LOL. I do know how to export the Wall from GMT as a obj file and then load it but unfortunatley thats it LOL..
What i did in GMT is put the wood texture on the floor some how rotated it 90 degrees and then use the Nodes to lift it to floor level, pushed it foward 0.1 so it's front of a normal wall otherwise the Dungeon brick wall comes through the wood texture a little eg The 3D bricks. But as for putting the wood texture at the back i have no clue..
Is there Tutorails on how to do this, besides the wiki site with the fire lizard..
Thxs hope to here from you soon..
EDIT: Sorry i did that code that you gave me and for some reason the Model goes onto the Floor maybe because the way i did the Model in GMT (the 90 degree rotation)..LOL

Re: How do I make Woodwall Model
You can try to start here, its a video tutorial I made some time ago.Eleven Warrior wrote: Is there Tutorails on how to do this, besides the wiki site with the fire lizard..
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4043&hilit=modeling+tutorial
it does not go into the basic of blender itself, its more the process of working with models for Grimrock. (there are a lot of tuts about the basics of Blender on youtube)
Hope this helps.
Skuggasveinn.

I made simle plate with plank texture for you
http://ulozto.cz/xs7TUXTd/wooddoor2-zip
I tested it in my dung as secred door by next code.( its from temple_secred_door )
and material by you from Mines from Malan Vael (textures isnt included)

Re: How do I make Woodwall Model
It's more straightforward than one might think... Grimrock does offer the option to make a material double sided ~in the material definition itself... But for a secret door, the object should have some depth to it; else it looks impossibly thin. All of the doors in Grimrock basically have the front side fully duplicated on the back, (and a they all have the bottom; and Iron & trapdoors have the inside edge of each door).Eleven Warrior wrote:What I want to do with this model is make it like Temple_secret_door, to place on the map. The simplest way to make a secret door, is select your model (in edit mode) and duplicate it [shift+D], then rotate it 180° along the Z axis [ R+Z+180 ], then adjust its position to add some thickness to the door. Then add faces to the bottom of the door to complete the mesh; the bottom of your door will be visible to the player when it's open.

In the GMT you should rename the mesh node "gate".

Re: How do I make Woodwall Model
Hi Issac how r u..
1 When you said the below text..To duplicate the model is this in Blender 3D right??
2 The rotate of 180 degrees along the Z axis-- Is this done in GMT??
3 To be honest I don't know anything about adjusting the thickness or how to add faces on the bottom or top of the door Model (Sorry)
I guess ill just have to look for tutorials.. Thxs for the help though.. I think I need a Degree in this LOL..
