Calling out the guards?

Can anyone hint at how you "call out the guards" while standing in the circle on level1?

There is a horn somewhere on the island... you equip it, then right click to use it... I have yet to find the horn myself

Just found the horn.

You will need to take some stairs down... So don't avoid them... Will give more hints if you can't locate the stairs... took me a second, can't believe it was so obvious...
