Win10 Tech Preview - Xaudio2 Error

Post by Phr3d »

When I try to launch the game I'm getting the Xaudio2: error in Xaudio2Create problem that I see around on the boards for the first game. I'm running the Windows 10 tech preview, so that's my first thought. I've tried installing the June 2010 DirectX SDK. I've tried rebooting. I've tried reinstalling. I tried the first game and it's giving me the same problem. (I originally played it on a different computer)
I have also tried going to the config file for the game and setting all the audio settings to false. I've also tried disabling my audio devices in the device manager. I always get the error.

First I guess I'd like to confirm if anyone else is playing successfully on Windows 10 tech preview.
Then, if anyone has any other tips/advice, I'd appreciate it.

What do you expect? You are running something that it isn't even in an alpha state...

You are running an unfinished unreleased OS so prolly nobody will be able to do anything about it.

It's all fine if it's not working on Win 10 tech preview. I just want to know if others are getting the same results and if that is indeed the problem. That's all. I've been running plenty of other games with no problem so it's not necessarily the issue.

Well. I see that's okay for testing purposes.

I read that Legend of Grimrock uses OpenAL. Chances are you will need to download that in order to get the Game(s) running.
Try it out:

Not for Windows. There it's all DirectX 9.

Well, in this case i guess the june 2010 sdk does not contain any directx 9 librarys.
In this case directx 9 should be installed, but i don't know if this works with the windows 10 techdemo.

That's kind of my thought at the moment. Maybe DX9 has some issues in Win10. I'm pretty sure all of the games I've been running up until now have been DX11. I'll try forcing a game to DX9 and see what happens.

Do not mistake OpenAL = audio library with OpenGL = Graphics API
