Force field top/bottom sides

Post by Kirinyale »

Why can't I walk on top of an active force field? Spell description says that it "blocks all movement" or something like that. However, it is actually true only for the sides, not for top or bottom. :(

While I understand that it might have been considered an "exploit", I also believe that it would allow for some great puzzles, as well as alternative solutions to some existing ones, which isn't always a bad thing (especially if you think about the probability and difficulty of setting up a force-field bridge, then going up fast enough to use it, especially when it has to be several tiles long).

I was actually thinking to use this to solve a secret which, at that moment, looked as though specifically designed for this solution. Imagine my disappointment when it only resulted in a few broken limbs for my characters after falling through an "impenetrable" force field. :(

I think it would be kinda annoying to design every single puzzle with this additional movement possibility from players in mind.

Well, 99% of the puzzles I've seen by now don't change from this at all, because they are either completely flat, or just too "spread-out" in space to worry about the few seconds' lifetime of the force field.

And I still think it would be really great if at least 1 puzzle *demanded* such creative spellcasting (or otherwise something truly unexpected) on purpose. Although I still haven't figured out how to solve the one in question, so I guess there might yet be something special in store for me...

What I would really like to know is whether this force field behavior is a deliberate decision by the devs, or just a convenient oversight?
