Dungeon Dwelling Menagerie

Post by Wizard of Makan »

Hi fellow creative cellarlords and ladies,

After enjoying the exquisite Dungeon Master mod for Grimrock 1 I got the modeling itch.

So I'm gonna build and reimagine some of the classic monsters.

If other artists want to chime in and talk / show off their doodles, ideas and creations -DM related or not-, I'm sure we're all the happier for it.

I don't think anybody expects a revamp for all the monsters. Many of them are pretty much already reimagined in the Grimrock series. Eg the Mummies, a whole bunch of Skeletons etc.

My aim is to to build on the classic design and colour of some more unusual beasts. That includes CSB, which had quite a few variants (Trolin > Antmen).
I don't intend copy the orginal ideas 1:1. Some designs would simply not work very well , I suppose.

Anyone willing to rig and animate would be most welcome! Don't be shy!

And please comment and provide feedback as much as possible.

Polychurning for mods can be a most lonely marathon.

So I came up with a few ideas for the Oitu

(you might have to zoom out a bit to properly view the pics )

It will get interesting to make him look properly balanced, that's something that a few pixel sprites can largely ignore.
I hope the proportions will still look Oituish.

Looks good so far. Keep on painting ;)
Maybe you manage to place legs in a way the oitu would´t fall over?^^

My plan was to recreate some DM beasts for LoG1, but personally there is only too small time.. sad!
Was planned for the 'back into dungeon' mod, but the fbx converter comes too late for me at that time.
Have already some prototype meshes (mmh.. anwhere in my storage devices^^)
A wizard eye is done, but has no animation attached yet.

If it comes clear how animations and models can be converted to LoG 2, i will test it out.
John is working on his new tool - we´ll see..

We're some modders using your wonderfull DM pack, and converting it for LoG2 ( akroma222 for the weapons/armors, and items/tiles for me at the moment ), so keep cool and finish the main quest before, if not done yet ;)

Glad to credit your work and converting for LoG2 modders/players ;) At least, when somebody convert "ancien" modder stuff for LoG2, I credit the creator AND converter in the superthread. Other else, akroma222 made a depository of new content with same system.
