Lark's Models, Sounds, Objects, and Scripts Download

Post by Lark »

Good Morning Everyone!

Here are my contributions to date to this modding community available in one easy download and packaged for easy installation by unzipping one directory under /mod_assets/mh_pack and adding just one include statement to your init.lua file. It's not really much, compared to what others have done, but hey, it's something. The contents include:
  • My first 3D model - a railing, with normal and weathered textures, and control of model components such as right and left posts and normal and sparse balusters.
  • My first LoG1 object, exploding barrel block, modified for LoG2 with help from JohnWordsworth. Simple, but why not include it.
  • Several custom sounds - furnace blasts, creaking wood, the whoosh of a fire being lit, and more. These are used in some of the sample scripts included and some currently under development.
  • Sample Scripts - copies of the scripts that are ready enough to release. Included are makeControls() which was posted already and thriceAndDrop() which isn't posted anywhere else. Walk over that trapdoor, sounds normal, creaks and shakes, and drops you on the third time across.

Below - One last image showing the normal railing (partially in a shadow) on the left and the weathered one center and right. I think I like the weathered railing best... can you tell?

Looking good. Have you considered wooden floors to go with those railings?

Thank you for the feedback and comments everyone. And thank you Jackard; that's a good idea. I'm working on a tileset, but making slow progress. But doing some floors that go with the railings shouldn't be hard at all! I'll start on them today. Thanks for the idea! -Lark

Could have sworn I saw old promotional material for Grimrock 2, a video or screen, that had european house exteriors in the forest. Did I imagine this??

I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but I'm having fun working on a new tile set. I have the railing, and now a floor (more later), multiple walls (8), a pillar, and a ceiling (to be expanded) that I think go together. The fireplace works, but the model is just too big so far. [EDIT - the following graphics issue does not show up on my home computer...] I'm having some strange graphics issues caused by the contrasts between really light and really dark colors, I think. Things "crawl around the screen" until the graphics engine settles down and the rendering stabilizes. Any suggestions?

Also, I would like comments on if anyone likes anything I've done so far. Here a three pictures of current projects. Progress is slow due to outside obligations - darn it all! :)

Thanks, -Lark

Like it. Good for a gothic themed 19th century mystery mod or something like that...

I would recommend to make another log over the doorframe. Looks kind of empty.
