Thinking back when I was just a whee little thing pattering about, I remember my older brother showing me this new PC game. The Elder Scrolls Arena! Oh was it stunning for its time. I watched him play that game for hours, till he decided to let me give it a go (I think it was a easy way out of having to baby sit and such heh) But I remember clear as day the first few hours of the game.
I spent the whole time trying to keep my little guys alive all the while letting out eeps and gasps because I never played a game where you where looking through the eyes of the hero, and at that age it was unreal. I still to this day at the youthful age of 26 have yet gotten out of the first dungeon in that game...Yes it really is that hard. Now I'm looking at this game and the flood of memories hit me, laughing with my brother and watching him play the game or having him sit down to watch me muck up and give advice, we never once fought or yelled.
I miss that, my brother died in a car wreck four years ago and any time I see a dungeon crawl game like Grimrock I get all the memories I had with my brother. I love it. For me PC gaming is fun and I do it to pass the time when I can but dungeon crawl games are always installed on my PC. They say that its easier to remember some one or thing if you associate that memory with a thing or place, as silly as it is my brother and I where only close when we had time to play PC games together every other time it was like any thing else, nothing to write home about.
When I first saw the game screens I got all misty eyed with memories then I had a smile from ear to ear. A new gen dungeon crawl game...can we say YES PLEASE! As much as I want to get this game, I would brake the bank to get it, sadly no money to speak of. No job etc etc. Same old for many others. But this forum and this game is going to be my top lists for a long time. Lets hope I can join every one else in the fun of classic gamming soon.
Thank you for giving this guy a smile and the fond memories.
