In the options menu, every time I set Texture Quality to high and click apply it reverts back to medium. Is there anyway to fix this? My PC isn't under powered and can easily run this game so I was wondering whats causing it...
Editing the config does not help. Even when it is correctly set to 3, the game refuses to go above medium. Is it possible it's incorrectly reading vram and has some inbuilt limit for texture res?

Bought from GOG.
win7 x64
ATI 4870, 512mb vram
8gb ddr3
i5 2500k
I have the exact same problem. I have the same graphics card, OS and RAM as you. I bought my copy straight from Almost Human and registered it to Steam and play from there. Had the same problem with standalone installer aswell.
EDIT: I tested the game on a laptop that uses the first generation Intel Core i5 integrated Intel HD Graphics and the High quality textures works just fine with it.

Hi, I have exact the same problem. My Laptop has a quadcore cpu and an ATI Radeon Mobility HD4850, so I dont think its too weak to run this game in highest settings - I'm playing the stand alone version from Bundle Store (preordered). Here is my grimrock.cfg:
mouseLook = true
muteMusic = false
textureResolution = 3
displayMode = 1
textureFilter = 3
autoSave = true
arrowIcons = false
resolution = "1920 x 1200"
invertY = false
verticalSync = 1
disableDamageTexts = false
muteSounds = false
ssaoQuality = 3
hideItemProperties = false
shadowQuality = 3
move_forward = 87
move_backward = 83
strafe_left = 65
strafe_right = 68
turn_left = 81
turn_right = 69
rest = 82
map = 9
character_sheet_1 = 49
character_sheet_2 = 50
character_sheet_3 = 51
character_sheet_4 = 52
I still think my system could run it on high as with all other settings on full and my texture quality on medium not even half my CPU is being used...nor is a quarter of my RAM. I hope something hasn't been incorporated that doesn't let older cards run on full settings as I'd at least like the option to try and put the game up full...
