At that point I missed that the crystal res'd a dead member too, so I was reluctant to let a member die.

Yeah, not to sound like I'm bragging, but I thought the game was a little too easy. I am only 24 so I never played the games it is based off of, but I was expecting to get my ass kicked. That is why I just assumed I had to reload when a character died when really the crystals revive them, something I never even utilized. I even refrained from using them sometimes because it wasn't clear if it was limited or not.
The game is "easier" if all you want to do is beat it or progress, but if you want to discover all the secrets you will find it more challenging.
And yes... you were bragging lol

I guess I didn't have a problem with this as it took me some posts to realize what you were talking about. Although, yeah, I did use up all my anti-venom resources. I might have more trouble now that I started a game on hard though...

Gotta agree with you about DM2, but Chaos? Nah, can't agree there. Chaos Strikes Back is by far the hardest, meanest and most confusing dungeon crawler ever created. And that is a good thing. :)

I was never even into dungeon crawlers, but this is just so damn perfectly executed! I just had to preorder it the minute is saw TB's WTF is Legend of Grimrock. One of the best purchases I have made.

I liked it when the game actually became challenging. level 1 was the tutorial, 2 was non-live fire exercise, and 3 was where the game truly began. I just used every trick and every item I could to get me by from battle to battle and it felt great to finish that level. If it would've just told me "fast spiders are going to attack you with poison", it would have felt like the game was an ongoing tutorial. I know this is a trend in today's games, but since this game is made to feel old-school, it needs to surprise you with new threats and not introduce them to you in a safe environment.

I agree. The amount of hand-holding in modern games is abhorrent. That's really bad conveyance. Grimrock has just the right pacing, atmosphere, challenge and conveyance.
Egoraptor can explain it better than I do (contains strong language)

There is a fine line between Challenging and Difficult, Approachable and easy.

This explains it better than I.

But from what I found Grimrock wasn't to difficult. If it was difficult I wouldn't have beat it because I am bad a truly difficult games.

I can agree, it was not a bad game, just felt lacking compared to the first (to me). The game relied on dropping through pits way too much, it lacked the 'journey' aspect, Grimrock continues the original spirit of the game much better IMHO.
