I don't think that you'll have to match your character's race and class perfectly for them to be useful, at least not if you play on normal - might be different on hard. The default party even gives you a human mage as far as I know so they should be decent at spellcasting.
What I'd love to know is if it's feasible to take an archer rogue into the dungeon. If I understand the mechanics correctly, your character only gets EXP from enemies if they actually hit them once so it might be tricky to get some levels on the rogue until they find a bow and a decent amount of arrows.

IMO that's not really a problem, since first enemies you encounter are kinda weak, so you can swap rogue into first line (or use throwing items)
+ i would be really surprised if guys from AH would overlook something like this

Nah even on hard you could do it with a bizzare party, you just need experience and skills!
