I like it (though, it admittedly threw me off as well), because it's one of the puzzles (for the stone in the cemetery). So making it so people need to "think" about it is a nice touch.

Brahhh I thought East West was bugged, because I'm so used to other games where it actually points to the direction.
I think it's great you have a compass that actually does what it's supposed to do however adding a N for north would REALLY help people understand how a real compass works. Yay pedagogy! :V
Right now it's just downright confusing for all of us ignorants.
