Ok, so I figured out an easy way to get a custom height for the ceiling and believable stars. Check my thread:

Creating exterior levels (example with Workshop link)
Re: Creating exterior levels (example with Workshop link)
Here is my attempt at outside levels -- utilizing invisible ceilings and a particle-effect "cloud layer" to simulate a sky. (outside will be dark anyway, thanks to the drawing distance)
All works fine to an extent -- doors provide a problem, but secret doors solve even more. One can simulate two-story houses by using opened temple and dungeon secret doors (prison ones leave a gap, as do regular doors), which, I dare say, looks great. Some smooth lighting here and there, with some props and I think I have a playable street level. And opened secret doors can be used to hide opened regular doors pretty neatly.
I need some tips with the clouds, though, but they serve their purpose at the moment.
Images in spoiler tags, a bit big they are.
I just realized I didn't take a picture straight up. The clouds are a bit more dense overhead, further on they are eaten by draw distance, I think.

Thanks! I got inspiration from the topic about the spectral enemies, because that technique can be used to make anything see-through, including ceilings. Made a new custom invisible ceiling model --> no wallsets required.Komag wrote:holy crap, that looks great! I love it!
Good news: Got the clouds infinitely better, they now cover the entire sky. I will go about trying to create a street level now, and see how can I (mis)use the existing assets even more to my advantage! >: D
